(TULib)

Organisation Type: Higher Education
Web Address: http://cxi.tul.cz
TULib is a dynamic university of medium size that joins forms of technical and university education. Within six faculties and two university institutes, it offers a large spectrum of acquirements in technical, scientific, humanity as well as artistic and interdisciplinary study branches. Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation (CXi) has been newly established as the centre of excellence in the field of nanomaterials research with the aim to integrate progressive research directions of TULib. The institute has highly effective cooperation with wide spectrum of academic and industrial partners on both national and international levels. In the centre more than 100 scientists perform applied research as well as a technological transfer of developed technologies in collaboration with industrial partners. The centre is equipped for materials research including accredited chemical and biological laboratories. Department of Nanomaterials in Science has about 30 researchers (more than a half of young scientists and PhD. students), including chemists, engineers, and biologists.  It focuses on effective remediation of wide range of pollutants in groundwater using various methods, including engineered nanoparticles. The research of nanoparticles includes also careful ecotoxicity assessment.  TULib has a long term experiences with application of zero-valent iron nanoparticles in contaminated groundwater treatment including 12 pilot applications and participation on two full scale successful remediations. These experiences are unique in all of Europe.
