The Department of Environmental Engineering (DTU Environment) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) aims to develop technical and sustainable solutions to minimize the impact of society on the environ-ment and humans through research and teaching at an international level. DTU Environment is one of the largest university groups in Europe specialising in environmental engineering, including among other topics soil and groundwater contamination, environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology. The department has state-of-the-art instrumentation for environmental analytical chemistry, microbiology and ecotoxicology. DTU Environment is a member of NanoDTU which is the interdisciplinary network for about 220 nanoscientists at DTU. At the DTU Campus there are excellent facilities for particle synthesis and characterization, and the NanoRisk group at DTU Environment have already well-established collaborations with the groups at DTU. Furthermore, the campus holds the CEN (Center for Electron Nanoscopy, www.cen.dtu.dk) – that has state-of-the-art instrumentation for electron microscopy. The NanoRisk team has access to these facilities and highly qualified assistance at very favourable cost prices.
